 Steve Irwin and Australia Zoo

steve_irwinOn September 4, 2006 Steve Irwin the Crocodile Man tragically lost his life while diving off the far north Queensland coast. He was just 44.

Despite the tragedy ... life goes on! His family have decided to continue operating the world-famous Australia Zoo, which is just a 35-minute drive from the Ponds on Mapleton B&B, through some of the most picturesque scenery in south-east Queensland.

Wander through the zoo and see a huge variety of animals in their natural state. Then take your seat in the Croccoseum, a 5000-seat stadium and watch the exotic collection of birds from South America and South-east Asia fly right over your heads.

steve_irwin2Then comes the Tiger show followed by the very popular CROC show. All the shows are very much "up close".

GETTING THERE is straight-forward. We'll even give you a little map to help you find your way there and back.

LUNCH TIME: There are plenty of food outlets inside the zoo, OR you can make up your own  lunch before you go, OR we'll be happy to pack you a gourmet hamper lunch to take with you at a reasonable price.
